もうだいぶ前になるけど、3月30日〜4月3日まで、コロラド州デンバーに出張に行ってきた。出張というか「IA Summit」というカンファレンスに参加するため。長谷川さんや、ジョージ、kasuyerさんと一緒に。

基本的にはカンファレンスでホテルに缶詰だったけど、少しだけ観光もできたので、そんなのも紹介しつつ、デンバーのまとめ。

デンバー2日目は1日フリーだったので、観光にあてた。

朝ごはんは16th streetのThe corner bakeryへ。LAで行って以来。

Anaheim Scrumblerというアボカドとかベーコンの入ったオムレツのプレートをチョイス。

腹ごしらえをしてタクシー捕まえて、博物館へ。
2-3時間で回るのにちょうどいいこなれた規模感。

デンバーって自然がいっぱいで、恐竜の化石などもたくさん発掘されているエリアらしく、博物館も恐竜の化石に力を入れている様子。学芸員の人に色々説明してもらって、聞いてる時は「へぇ！すごい！」って思ったことがたくさんあったのに、どんな話だかもうすっかり忘れてしまった。

大きく3エリアを中心に見た。

Prehistoric Journeyは主に恐竜の化石やエデュケーショナルなパネルなどの展示。

North American Indian culturesではNative Americanの文化や歴史の展示。

Space Odysseyは宇宙に関する展示。
ちょうど3.11の震災後ということもあって、4つのプロジェクターでプロジェクションされた地球には、地震の規模や津波の全地球への波及具合などが表現されていた。

しかし、実は博物館のどの展示よりも最も印象に残ったのは博物館裏手の美しい公園。

なんて広くてきれいなのー！絵を見ているようだった。こんなに空がひらけた開放的な公園がすぐ近くにあるなんてデンバーに別荘があってもいいような気がする、とすら思った、そんな場所だった。
